Acne Redness – 5 Ways To Reduce Acne Redness
Anyone who suffers from acne and acne redness knows that it is not only uncomfortable but unsightly. This problem forces many people to ask the question, “How to reduce redness from acne?”. So, what is the best acne redness reducer? Dealing with acne doesn’t just mean that you get the occasional zit.
Those who suffer from this terrible skin bacteria are constantly and severely broken out. It can be very hard to control acne break outs. Most medications that are available will take a toll on your skin, this is due to the fact that they dry the skin. Over time your skin may become damaged and irritated. At times you may be worse off after using a strong acne medication, suffering from both acne redness and overly dry, irritated skin. This can have a drastic effect on ones self-esteem. When your skin is that red and discolored it may make you feel very uncomfortable being in public. Although, eliminating acne and preventing future break outs may be difficult for many, there are a few simple ways that you can help reduce acne redness. By reducing redness, you can drastically change your appearance and self-image.
The Top 5 Ways To Reduce Acne Redness
One of the worst habits that many acne sufferers develop is the urge to squeeze or “pop” their pimples. When you suffer from severe acne, your skin feels oily and uncomfortable. Often times it can be quite painful to have a large the sensitive skin of your face. You may want to squeeze this pimple in order to alleviate some of the pressure and discomfort. By doing this you are merely causing more irritation and redness. Often times this will cause the effected area to grow and become even more red. So the next time you have the urge… Don’t pop that pimple.
Lemon Juice, The Natural Way To Reduce Acne Redness
If you are having a particularly bad problem area and are looking for a natural way to reduce the size of a certain blemish, a great way to do so would be with a lemon. Lemon juice is highly acidic and will dry your skin. Use a cotton swab and gently coat the effected area. You will notice that within an hour or so your pimple has drastically reduced in size. Keep in mind that this is a great way to take care of a small problem area. If you attempt to cover your face in lemon juice, you will cause severe irritation and even more redness.
Get The Acne Redness Out With Visine
If you could not resist the urge to pop a pimple and are regretting it because you now have a huge irritated area on your face, have no fear, you just need a little Visine. Yes, the same product that will get the red out of your blood shot eyes, can also reduce the redness on your face. Apply a minute amount of Visine on to a cotton swab and hold it against the effected area for about 30 seconds. When you remove the swab you will be amazed that the redness has disappeared. Again, much like the lemon juice, this should not be done frequently as it can damage your skin. So as a rule, you should never try and pop a zit, but if you do, Visine can be your secret weapon against acne redness.
Toothpaste, The Ultimate Acne Cure
I am starting to feel a bit repetitive but… this method should only be used when you are in severe discomfort due to an acne breakout. Applying toothpaste all over your face will only damage your skin and can even make acne redness worse. If there are a few pimples that are causing you some discomfort all you need to do is dab a little toothpaste on them before you go to bed. By the time you wake up in the morning, the pimples will have either disappeared completely or have considerably shrunken in size.
Don’t Have Toothpaste, Use Aspirin
Aspirin will have the same exact effect on your acne redness as toothpaste. The only difference is the preparation. You will not be able to apply the aspirin in it’s solid state. You will need to crush it into a powder and add a tiny bit of water to turn it into a paste. This paste can be lightly applied on the effected areas.
Prevention Is The Best Acne Redness Reducer
Although most people are predisposed to acne, the best way that you can avoid, or at least lessen, it’s effects is by washing your face at least three times per day with a specialized cleanser. Noxzema and Clean Clear both make specialized face washes that will help to reduce acne and acne redness without drying out or damaging your skin.

For acne redness swabbing on Tea Tree Oil helps slightly. It doesnt help with acne itself (i think, bc ive only used it for less than a week), but helps redness by only like 10% but its someting. I drink green tea (1 mug) every other day about, with no milk but one teaspoon sugar. As a facewash (twice a day) i use Murad Clarifying Cleanser [about $26, Amazon.com]… so yea. I moiturize when i need to and exfoliate like every 2-3 days. Still, I have acne. Im 12. I want to try the lemon juice but we dont have any friggin lemons. Acne sucks. It makes u ugly. I have a BF and at least 2 guys who i know like me @ skewl but i still feel so GROSS. btw DO NOT USE TOOTHPASTE I USED IT ONE NIGHT AND IN THE MORNING MY SKIN WAS WAAAAY REDDER THAN BEFORE AND PEELY AND PATCHES OF RED AND FLAKES DO NOT USE

Hi, I think that there is little that you can do as it is just hormones. But general health go to the gym and sweat but shower ASAP after. Vitamin tablets , lots of water, 5 fruit and veg a day , avoid junk food. But most of all try to stop worrying about it! The more you worry the more they come !

I have found that milk of magnesia (Only the original, do NOT get the flavored kind) is an AWESOME treatment for acne. I use a cotton ball to spread it all over my face in a THIN layer. I let it dry completely (I give it a good 15 or 20 minutes) and then just gently brush off the topmost layer of powder with my hands or a soft brush leaving a light matte dusting all over my skin. Over this I PRESS IN a good facial moisturizer. I use Aveeno daily facial moisturizer for sensitive skin, but if you have a brand that works well for you then go with that. I just pat this on and continue gently pressing it (Not rubbing or smearing as it will pick up the Milk of Mag and pull it from its even coverage) all over my face gently spreading it over the entire area. I use this routine twice a day after gently cleansing with plain warm water and Equate facial cleansing wipes (similar to dove or olay cleansing wipes only cheaper, found at Wal-Mart). I have had SEVERE acne since I was 11 and am now 27 years old. I have tried EVERYTHING from Proactive to over the counter treatments to homeopathic methods. This is the ONLY thing that has made a noticable difference for the better and it does not burn, overdry, its easy, and soooo cheap. It does not work as well in the winter as my skin tends to overdry so I have to up my moisturizing to 3 to 4 times a day but if you stick with it, it will heal your acne and seriously reduce acne scar visibility. It makes a great primer for your makeup and protects your skin. It gives a matte shine free look and completely controls oil. I never thought I’d swear by an acne treatment, but this stuff is INCREDIBLE!

if you have a zit- crush up garlic and tab the juice on the pimple. also, lemon juice helps fade scars… if you have scars try that. I’ve heard that if you cut up a potato and hold on the slice on your zit it helps, but I’m not sure- i guess you could try! Defiantly, oooooooooooh defiantly, drink GREEN TEA! It’s been my savior. 1) Green tea cleans out your body 2) It is GREAT for your skin & 3) It tastes great! Remember, you HAVE TO, HAVE TO moisturize. If you don’t you will just break out more. Think about it, if you face is dry it will make oil with only clogs your pores, but if you give you face the moisture it need then the work is done. Your skin with thank you!

Prince:
You shouldn’t dry your skin totally. This will just cause more irritation. Try to avoid any fat candy or cakes (stuff like that). Drink plenty of water to clean your whole body and skin as well.. I do this and it seems like it’s working great.
Think of it this way:
If it doesn’t work – you’ve lost nothing. Actually you’re staying healthier.
Best regards
